For any wedding film booking, a signed contract and non-refundable retainer fee of 25% is required to hold your date and will be applied toward the total balance. Balance remainder is due 30 days prior to event date. Edited film will be delivered via custom USB and online gallery with ability to download and share.
Family films also require a 25% deposit, signed contract with balance paid 2 weeks prior to session.

You’re not alone! Its completely out of the ordinary to be followed around by cameras all day. Hopefully by the time your wedding day/shoot rolls around, we’ve gotten to know one another well enough that you feel like its a friend behind the camera :) However- we absolutely want you feeling as comfortable as possible during our time together so I may give you some guidance at the beginning (or for however long you like) but I will always encourage you to focus on what’s happening in the moment and where you are. I want to capture a memory for you, not a film/photo shoot.
Also, MUSIC is incredibly helpful- I’ll have all your favorite tunes at the ready!

I shoot solo and utilize minimal gear (2 cameras and a handful of other gear- monopod, tripods, lavalier mics for stellar audio). This setup works well for my shooting and editing style, allowing me to move on a dime for moments as they unfold, and immerse myself into your day seamlessly! Most guests assume I’m a photographer.

Not to worry. Every word of your Best Man’s uncharacteristically-sentimental love note to the happy couple will be preserved for all eternity and can be used as blackmail at your will.
(Full speeches will be included with your package as separate files.)

I collaborate with the photographer to ensure that the main priority at all times is you- the couple. And as with anything, communication is key! If I need something, I respectfully ask. I always reach out to the photographer prior to the event date to establish a relationship and open the lines of communication before we meet. This helps a ton! At the end of the day, we are both there to serve you.

You sure can! This is available as an add-on to your package, for $500 (full-day weddings) and $300 (elopements). Please note that raw footage is just that- RAW. I do not edit this footage (no color-grading or sound design is applied). But you’ll get all viable video clips from you day/shoot!

Mileage for events within 100 miles from Portland is included with any package!
For weddings within driving distance, 1-2 nights stay will typically be required + mileage. Contact me for a custom quote!
If I should need to hop on a plane, round-trip airfare plus 2-3 nights stay are required + car rental, if necessary. I book all travel (no upgrades, promise ;)) 3-4 months out from the event date and will invoice you after bookings are completed.

A lavalier microphone is our best bet to achieve that crisp, clear, high-quality ceremony audio (think vows!). I typically put a mic on the groom for the ceremony. The recorder is small and fits unassumingly into a pant or jacket pocket with the microphone clipped to the jacket lapel.
In many cases its a great idea to have the bride wear one as well- particularly if your ceremony is outdoors. The recorder is worn on an adjustable thigh belt (similar to a garter belt), with the microphone sneakily attached with adhesive stickies to the top inside of the brides dress (without damaging the fabric).

No mic needed! For family sessions, I am usually in close-enough range to anyone speaking that my external microphone picks up sound just fine.

It can look any way you want it to! At home, on a hike, out for ice cream-whatever looks like your family at this juncture. Make it fun!
It can be helpful to plan an activity during our time together- playing at the park, making pancakes at home, playing a board game, working out in the garden- anything that might be a typical activity for your family! The goal is not to “produce something epic,” but rather to create something beautifully representative of your everyday.

DON’T STRESS THIS. Kids are nothing if not unpredictable! I understand that this is likely a new experience for them and I’m a new person in their world, and I let them take the lead. Actually, kids are usually far less fazed by the presence of a camera than adults are, and love showing me all their favorite toys, tricks, etc. I don’t ask kids to perform, smile, or be any certain way. Only themselves. Because that’s what you’ll want to remember anyway :)
And just so you know… I come prepared. My pockets just might be filled with little candies or toys…(let me be the boss here!). It’ll be worth it.

The short answer: no.
When it comes to music for commercial use (i.e. your wedding film), it legally needs to be licensed.
The good news: There are THOUSANDS of incredible tracks- in an array of music genres- readily available on music licensing sites that I have access to, and are included in your package!
Also- music selection is a huge part of the creative process on my end. Consideration of variables- such as the vibe of the day, peoples’ personalities, and overall creative opportunities within the edit- are all part of why you’re hiring me.
-
The vast majority of my fee comes from editing hours. A full wedding day will yield, on average, around 60+ editing hours. A family film will require around 30+ hours, with elopements landing somewhere between the two.
Your fee also includes time spent filming, travel to/from filming location, time preparing for event/shoot, camera gear and licensing fees for editing software, music, etc.
Thank you for valuing my time, creativity and experience!

Short answer: As involved as you want me to be.
Long answer: I WANT TO BE INVOLVED ;) I want to know you- both of you (all of you, if you’re a family!), and what you have in mind for your session. Lets brainstorm ideas for your shoot that reflect your love and life together! I have guides that will serve as a jumping off point in considering what to expect/wear for your session as well as location/overall vibe. I’m here for you from the very beginning through to the delivery of your gallery and beyond- lets create something reflective of only you.
